We see it everywhere..in the form of sculpture, graffiti, mosaics and Murals. People make Public Art because they want to connect with the community and express something. Our mural is going to be a Map that connects the community in one space. Artistically, the students will work together to make a collaborative mural on the side of their school, engaging team building skills and communication. They will learn the process of creating a public work of art from brainstorming to organization, from process to finalization. <div><br /></div><div>The students will be building work for their English Language Arts Portfolio as they write poetry and develop a spoken word performance centered around a greater understanding of their community gained through the mural painting. They will be encouraged to communicate about this place they call home in a poetic and creative way.</div><div><br /></div><div>Essential Questions:</div><div>How does the spoken word effect community?</div><div>What is Community?
